Card Reviews 1/30/2012

Finally got around to making Card Reviews. This will not always be daily, but I'll try to review 5 cards for each day.

Ursaring Prime        A-

This card is shunned by many players for its weakness and high retreat and they often ignore the glaring strengths, like how easy it is set up Berserk. One Double Colorless Energy and a Rainbow Energy doles out 90 damage and discards, while two DCE’s deals out a whopping 120 damage. For a “unplayable” card it sure is really destructive. Works amazing with Donphan Prime and Typhlosion. Worthwhile card to use.

Kingdra LA                B-

This card is underwhelming for a really hyped card. Although Aqua Stream is good to use once, then the damage resets. Dragon Pump is powerful but costly. It requires you to discard 2 cards. A hefty price, unless you are using a Gyarados deck. Using Dragon Pump is a very costly attack requiring you to destroy your hand to attack and once you run out of cards, you’re unable to do 60 damage. But 40 for 1 eneregy is good enough, so I can give it the benefit of the doubt.

Ho-Oh LEGEND        B

Another card that gets so much heat. People hate this card for being a legend and for it’s attack cost.  With Sacred Rainbow being Energy Burn and Bright Wing being Fire Spin (with one less discard), this card is a good. Works well in Typhlosion Decks and is a good alongside Reshiram. Not to mention, this LEGEND is one of the only legends that does not have the 2 prize drawback.

Dark Feraligatr         C

This card was great for its time as it shut down Baby Pokemon, which were a major force in those days. Its attack was decent and as a Dark Pokemon it naturally had low HP. However, with no Pokemon Breeder, it was not always easy to bring it out. Its art does not look too menacing despite that it can scare babies accordinbg to its power. Not a bad card, I’d say.

Sceptile (GE)             B-

The Wild Growth Poke-Body is amazing as it supplies double the energy. However, its HP is kinda low. It does 50/70 with just 2 energy (not counting if Dialga G Lv X is in play). The artwork is beautiful with its grand pose and wonderful background. But the Retreat Cost sucks. This card is good to use when SP's are not around.

  1. I'm liking these reviews, not as overly-critical as 6P, where a card like Conkeldurr is considered a terrible card simply over a card that is not released yet.
